Other Helpful Links:
Sick Policy: in order to keep our staff and children healthy, and to prevent school closures, we ask that parents use the following guidelines to determine when children should be kept home.
Temperature threshold: Any fever at 100 degrees or higher will result in the child being sent home. Parents have one hour to pick up their child.
Exclusion period: The child must remain fever free for 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medicine.
Recurrence policy: Should your child have a fever more than once in a week span, the child may be excluded for a longer time and a doctor’s note will be required.
Vomit: Vomit indicates more serious illness such as the stomach flu, food poisoning, or norovirus. Children will be sent home should they vomit. Parents have one hour to pick up their child. The child must be kept home and vomit free for 48 hours before returning to school.
Diarrhea: Children with more than three loose stools or watery bowel movements will be sent home. Children will be required to stay home until diarrhea symptoms have been cleared for 24 hours.
Open wounds: Children with open wounds or blood puts other children in serious risk of disease. Children with open wounds or blood will be sent home. Parents have one hour to pick up their child.
Common cold and flu: Some illnesses do not always result in fever. Children with a blend of the following symptoms will be sent home: green mucus, cough, lethargy, inability to participate in scheduled activities. Parents have one hour to pick up their child. Children may return to school when the bulk of their symptoms are no longer present, typically after 24 hours. Children with lingering cough or clear runny noses will be allowed to return.
Covid: Any covid exposures within the daycare will require children test and receive a negative test result before coming to school. Any covid outbreaks are subject to the guidance of licensing and the Department of Health.
Outbreaks: As a licensed facility, we must abide by our governing agencies such as state licensing and the Department of Public Health. The guidelines to various outbreaks change often for childcare facilities. Should we have an outbreak such as Hand, Foot, Mouth; Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV); Coronavirus; Norovirus; lice; etc.; we will follow the current guidelines provided to us by the Department of Public Health and Licensing. Some guidelines result in a longer exclusion period, or a school wide closure.
General rule of thumb: If your child does not have the energy to participate in our regular scheduled activities, they should probably stay home.
What to expect:
Progress reports. We send periodic progress reports to summarize feed schedules, naps, and drink schedules. The reports typically an evaluation on your child’s motor skills, social skills, and upcoming transitions. Parent-teach conferences are not required, but can always be requested.
Changes to pick-up/drop-off. Occasionally, the drop off location will change within the daycare. We will notify parents if we will be in the background, playroom, etc.
Changes made by the state of California. As a licensed in-home daycare, we are subject to the rules and regulations set forth by the state of California. Parents will be made aware of any new rules and regulations that directly affect your child’s day to day.
Daycare closures due to outbreaks. As required by the state of California, the daycare must close down for outbreaks of infectious diseases. These diseases include but are not limited to: covid, Hand Foot Mouth, etc. An outbreak is considered 2 or more infected children.
Direct involvement from Director: All main correspondence will be made with the Director, and the Director will make herself available to all families at all times. The Director is hands-on throughout the full hours of operation, and your child will get to know the Director on a first name basis. The success of your child’s well-being is directly related to the relationships they’re able to build with their adults care providers. We take relationship building seriously here and are all invested in our children, starting with the Director.
